Ivana obviously wants to help women struggling with some semblance of her own troubles. Get tough, get on with your life, keep busy, look good, find a new man: not much to argue with there. But however hard she tries to identify with ordinary folk, she can't resist telling how Prince Charles dropped by for tea at Mar-a-Lago. Seemingly nothing escapes Ivana's sharp eye. Her readers are bombarded with rhetorical questions: "You're not surprised are you?" (that Diana couldn't change Charles); "That's quite a blessing, don't you think?" (the two young princes). Cinderella wins no points from Ivana: "Cinderella should have said good-bye to those nasty relatives, cleaned herself up, gotten a nice job and a cute apartment somewhere." It is easy to mock, but the heart of the champion skier from the former Czechoslovakia is in the right place.
